Automatically Collected Information
1812 collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. 1812 also automatically collects your internet protocol (IP) address. 1812’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how 1812’s visitors use its website. 1812 may aggregate this data and display this data publicly or provide it to others. From time to time, 1812 may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Gathering of personally-identifying information
Certain visitors to the 1812 website choose to interact with 1812 in ways that require 1812 to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that 1812 gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who wish to sign up for our mailing list to provide an email address. In each case, 1812 collects such information only as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with 1812. 1812 does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described in this policy. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Protection of certain personally-identifying information
1812 discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that need to know that information to process it on 1812’s behalf or to provide services available at 1812’s website. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using 1812’s website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. 1812 will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, 1812 discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when 1812 believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of 1812, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of an 1812 website and have supplied your email address, 1812 may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with 1812 and our products. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. 1812 takes reasonable measures to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Information Collected for User Postings
This website uses Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the site. The tool uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including IP address) is transmitted to Google. This information is then used to evaluate visitors’ us of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity for 1812.
We will never (and will not allow any third party to) use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of visitors to our site. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Neither we nor Google will link, or seek to link, an IP address with the identity of a computer user. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any Personally Identifiable Information from any source, unless you explicitly submit that information to our support team.
We use Google Analytics’ 3rd-party audience data such as age, gender and interests to better understanding the behavior of our customers and work with companies that collect information about your online activities to provide advertising targeted to suit your interests and preferences. For example, you may see certain ads on this website or other websites because we contract with Google and other similar companies to target our ads based on information we or they have collected, including information that was collected through automated means (such as cookies and web beacons). These companies also use automated technologies to collect information when you click on our ads, which helps track and manage the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.
You may opt out of the automated collection of information by third-party ad networks for the purpose of delivering advertisements tailored to your interests, by visiting the consumer opt-out page for the Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising at http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and edit or opt-out your Google Display Network ads’ preferences at http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/. Because those opt-out and preference control pages are specific to the individual browser used to visit it, and because that page is not operated by 1812, we are unable to perform the opt-outs on your behalf.
If 1812, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that 1812 goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of 1812 may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
